Quote of the Week
"You don't have to be training for the Tour de France. If you ride your bike, you're healthier. There is less car traffic, less dirty air. So just get out there -- on the trail, on the road, on the way to school or work, wherever, and ride your bike."
-- Lance Armstrong, about to open Mellow Johnny's, his downtown Austin bike shop catering to cyclists of all levels, on May 10.

Earth Rider Supports Human Powered Vehicle Team
Earth Rider is a proud sponsor of the Marquette University Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) team that took 3rd place out of 40 teams in a competition held at the Univ of Wisconsin-Madison April 25-27, 2008.
HPVs are aerodynamic, highly engineered vehicles that may be for use on land, in the water or the air. Some land-based HPV's have achieved speeds of over 60 mph. American Society of Mechanical Engineers sponsors the
Human Powered Vehicle Competition
in hopes of finding a design that can be used for everyday activities ranging from commuting to and from work to going to the grocery store. Senior engineering students use this competition for their capstone project and with their efforts design and construct a fast, sleek, and safe vehicle capable of road use. Congratulations to the Marquette Univ. team!
One World Two Wheels
One World, Two Wheels, a Trek Commitment is just that; a pledge by Trek and its dealers to make the world a more bike friendly place.
Check out the new web site, 1 World 2 Wheels for inspiration and tips for doing your part. Afterall, Green is the new red, white, and blue!
Warm, cold, wet, repeat
The rains have resulted in water across sections of the trail and more soft spots. Ride at your own risk. If you do ride on the trails now or later, you'll need a Trail Pass which is available at Earth Rider or at the self-registration boxes at the Trail heads (now $20/year) or $4 for the day. Take some time now making plans to achieve
Trail Explorer status in 2008.
Bike-O-Meter Rating Scale: 0 = Not recommended for biking; 5 = Bikable, but not ideal; 10 = Get out there!
